Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered Gets Massive Update: New Outfits, Photo Mode, and Game-Specific Improvements

The first big patch for Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered lands on April 18th. Aspyr and Saber Interactive have worked through community feedback, and the changes cover all three games.

Across All Three Games

In Tomb Raider IV and V you can now unlock and use outfits from Lara's past adventures through the Outfit Selector.

Photo Mode picks up new animation options, sunglasses accessories, and facial animations that work in classic graphics mode too, and Graphics Settings gets new Brightness and Retro Filter options.

The rest of the general changes:

  • Refined menu fonts in TR4 and TR5 for better consistency with classic visuals
  • Enhanced texture blending to reduce visible seams
  • Fixed flare illumination
  • Improved animations, including proper behavior when Lara is unconscious
  • Smoother modern controls with refined jump switches, rope grabbing, and torch handling
  • Better music behavior that now pauses during inventory screens
  • Secret music tracks now layer over ambient sounds instead of interrupting them
  • A satisfying 60fps inventory experience

Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation

The Last Revelation gets visual touch-ups across all levels and new HD loading screens, the jeep and motorcycle controls have been smoothed out, and cinematic lens flare is back.

The Arabic signage in Cairo has been corrected, and Aziza's face model now stays consistent between gameplay and cutscenes. Level-specific fixes fill gaps in the Tomb of Seth, remove a floating door in Desert Railroad, and get the Temple of Horus playing the right ambient music.

Tomb Raider V: Chronicles

Chronicles gets updated HD skyboxes and improved lightning effects, plus model updates to the winged griffins and white brick textures so they better match the original game and real-world references.

On the environment side, visual inconsistencies with doors and grates have been corrected, the water effects in the Sinking Submarine level are fixed, and the mirrored VCI logos are the right way round. Corridor illusions have been replaced with actual hallways, and metal rods are back to match the original look.

Tomb Raider VI: Angel of Darkness

Angel of Darkness gets the longest list. New HD assets cover more characters and inventory items, and both Lara and Kurtis now have dynamic hair physics.

Loading is faster and gameplay smoother across all platforms, with specific fixes for PS5 stability issues. Misspellings and environmental inconsistencies have been corrected, radios now play news segments, and there's a new hand-to-hand combat tutorial in the Parisian Ghetto.

Combat and movement fixes cover animation glitches and enemy AI issues, and audio bugs with missing or looping sound effects have been resolved, along with fixes for the Parkour achievement, keypad interactions, puzzle sequences, and Kurtis's Chirugai weapon.

There's also an option to use the original 2003 console controls, and the modernized camera controls have been refined.

TLDR;

Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered's first big patch arrives April 18th with outfits from Lara's past, an expanded Photo Mode, and a long list of game-specific fixes across all three games.
